I had the same feeling. It wasn't bad and I like Eoin Colfer as an author. But it wasn't the same feeling I had when I first read the HHGG.
Just finished "The Mechanical Messiah and Other Marvels of the Modern Age", great book, up there with Necrophenia & Wiches of Chiswick for the best of the more recent tomes.
I'd liked to have seen a bit more of The Mechanical Messiah Himself though.

Now onto Neuromancer by William Gibson
A Clash Of Kings by George RR Martin. Well I did get the whole series for fathers day, so I really ought to be cracking on with them. Donna is now onto A Dance WIth Dragons, I bought the hard back door step edition.... I do have Mechanical Messiah, but I really want to get Clash of Kings done beofre I start it. It should be a nice break from the heavy politics, war, incest, intrigue and backstabbing of Mr Martin's work.
I promise I will have it done ASAP. And signed at the SFX Weekender no doubt.
Speaking of which, and I know this is off topic, I have been challenged by a mate from work to not only get my photo taken with Alex Kingston, but I have to get a photo of me giving her a kiss. Yeah my mates ARE utter bastards. Mind you, if I can pull it off I will have kissed River Song!!! AWESOME! I think I may need Robert and Raygun's assistance to pull this off....

Just started Reamde by Neal Stephenson last one of his I read was Snowcrash which was really good.
