Very, I highly recommend reading it.

I need to get round to finishing The Greatest Show on Earth (Richard Dawkins) I like his stuff as long as you don't mention the 'r' word.

I am currently reading a Star Wars book by Karen Traviss called No Prisoners, in my "to read" pile is Necrophenia by our esteemed master (shocking that I haven't read it yet I know!) and The Good Man Jesus And The Scoundrel Christ by Philip Pullman.

Reading:

"And Another Thing..." - Eoin Colfer
"The Hell Of It All" - Charlie Brooker (as I get older, I agree with him more and more)

Next up:

"Use Of Weapons" - Iain Banks
"Retromancer" - Robert Rankin (I have a rare unsigned copy Smiling )

Well, I've read Player Of Games and Matter (which were quite entertaining) so I thought I'd try the others. Any recommendations?

Re: What are you reading now?

Indeed. I've read nearly all of Iain's stuff, my 2nd fav bahing Mr Rankin.

Of the SF stuff,

The Culture books are the most well known:

Use of Weapons is prob my favorite 10/10
Consider Phlebas is excellent 8/10
The Player of Games is good (as you may know) 7/10
Excession is possibly the most complex 9/10
Inversions is more straight forward 6/10
Look to Windward is good 7/10
Matter I though was ok but not great 6/10
Surface Detail is due later this year ?/10

NonCulture books are
Against a Dark Background good story but didn't much like the end 6/10
Feersum Endjinn great little book 8/10
The Algebraist an alternative to the Culture universe 7/10
& Short story collection "The State of the Art" 6/10

Of his non "M" non SF
The Wasp Factory is a classic 8/10
Walking on Glass is awsome 9/10
The Bridge is the best of the non SF 10/10
Espedair Street is ok 6/10
Canal Dreams isn't great 5/10
The Crow Road is well liked but rambling 6/10
Complicity is good 8/10
Whit is another favorite 9/10
A Song of Stone is odd 7/10
The Business is ok 6/10
Transition is an attempt to blend SF & non SF 7/10

I've not read Dead Air or The Steep Approach to Garbadale
