Right you are....
I had no idea ......”SALUTES”.......Colonel Rankin
This morning, I was awakened from my eternal rest (as you will be able to tell from the photo) by the postman. True to form, he knocked twice - despite the bell being in fully working order.
Upon opening the package the clouds were driven from the sky, my scrofula cleared up, and I'm sure that the old chap is a bit more impressive than yesterday...
Hats off to Robert for being such a thoroughly nice chap!
Thank you and everyone else who purchased tickets, for your generosity, a cheque for £500 will soon be winging its way to The Stroke Association.
And that's my good deed done for the year, I'm off to torture some puppies.
OH IN CASE THERE IS ANY QUESTION< THAT WAS A JOKE>
Show off
Having never seen a proof copy before, that is not what I was epxecting, I was expecting something that resembled a film script i.e. lots of paper stapled together rather than a proper book like object. Congrats you lucky man, you have something quite special in your hand there.
Some older proof copies are very much like flim scrips. Just a plain cover with the author's name and the book's title to show what it is. This is of course going back a few years now, in the day before t'internet and the widespread distribution of art work via said medium.
Simply put, the publishers didnt have a definite artwork for the cover so the proof is rather dull looking.
