Robert asked:

Could someone paste up the link here from The Guardian online books section about "BFS winner returns award" It has links to a certain Stephen Jones's blog, he had some deeply unpleasant remarks to make about me. He should be outed!!!!!

link: http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/booksblog/2011/oct/06/british-fantasy-award-winner-returns-prize

In my opinion (only) a bloody disgrace, and that’s having no bias towards Robert, Sam Stone (http://www.sam-stone.com) is correct in her response. It’s about time for change!

i) Never heard of him - is he important or worth listening to on any topic? He certainly reads like he's about 5'2" tall and been passed over when it comes to "picking the team" all his life.
ii) FFS that blog hurts my eyes to read. It's 2011 mate, consider a larger font and something with a little less glare?

Edit: http://www.stephenjoneseditor.com/goh01.htm <-- 6th photo down, he is 5'2"...

If it was me, I'd just threaten to sue the fucker for libel. That usually has the desired effect, if not then inform him that you'll quite merrilly beat him to a bloody pulp next time you see him.

Am I being particulalry thick? I couldn't find a reference to Robert in the blog entry. Where exactly should I be looking?

Or can I just not see it because the font is eye crossingly tiny?

Re: from http://www.facebook.com/robertrankin

Nurse its is mostly because the font is eye wateringly annoying and small. But there is a bit that says that Robert spent the whole weekend in the bar because he was too tight to fork out for a membership, That he is nowhere near as clever and funny as he seem to think he is. And of course that he is guest to honour next year, and he bemoans that robert was GOH in '99 or something. Frankly I think the whole thing is just a sour twisted person venting off because he didnt like the way the awards went.

But I would still sue the fucker.

Ah, there we go (wipes tears form strained and bloodshot eyes).
Yes, a completely unnecesary bit of petty malice.

Original Sproutclub founder and star of Apocalypso, Porrig, has a lengthy and balanced piece on this here:

http://slovobooks.livejournal.com/307917.html

He is, sort of, broadly, in agreement with some of Stephen Jones's points, so I think that it is all a bit more complicated and less black and white than people have suggested so far.

Please read Porrig's thoughts and comment again. I'm currently agnostic on this one.
