Black Mirror
Did anyone catch Black Mirror last Sunday (4th Dec 2011)
If not I'd recommend watching it if you can.
Don't read the Wikipedia page if you want to avoid spoilers, but here's the gist:
Black Mirror is a three-part television drama series created by Charlie Brooker. The series is produced by Zeppotron for Endemol. Regarding the programme's content and structure, Brooker noted, "each episode has a different cast, a different setting, even a different reality. But they're all about the way we live now – and the way we might be living in 10 minutes' time if we're clumsy."
An Endemol press release describes the series as "a hybrid of The Twilight Zone and Tales of the Unexpected which taps into our contemporary unease about our modern world", with the stories having a "techno-paranoia" feel. Channel 4 describes the first episode as "a twisted parable for the Twitter age".
I liked the more SFy-ness of the 2nd one "15 million merrits", but the ending, after the big outburst, was a bit of a damp squib. I guess maybe that was the point, but I still expected something more.
I've found both so far to be a bit boring, a bit obvious. They're OK, but I expect brilliance from Brooker and he hasn't quite delivered.
It used to be worth buying The Guardian just for his column. Here's one of the best ones, a response to the vile Jan Moir saying in The Daily Fail that Stephen Gately died because of his gay lifestyle:

Ep 3 was ok, decent concept & done ok. Shame it had such a typical soap, relationship type thing behind it all. More could have been made of the drunk threat & crash.
As someone who doesn't watch much on TV, & I certainly don't go out of my way to watch much, it had enough to make me want to see all 3. I'd look out for more if they make them...
