Is there any more info on the content?
What games are planned - ie what type of games. I play Live Action Freeform so would be very interested if there are any or could there be room for any.
How many sign ups so far?

Re: DaCon

I haven't heard of any Freeform, but if you're feeling creative and speak to the powers that be (or just wait for them to see this thread) I'm sure a slot can be found for it if people are keen to do it.

According to bag space and comedy potential I might be bringing along some vaguely mythos-themed games like "Do You Worship Cthulhu?" (It's werewolf but with cultists) for some in-bar amusement rather than mainstream items.

I haven't heard a great deal yet about the details of any games, but there are threads elsewhere regarding guests and entertainment, and I'm sure info on other panel items will appear soon enough.

I'm sure you will all reassured to hear that a professional, competant and highly trained committee of experts (or bunch of feckin idiots) are working night and day on programming for the con Laughing out loud.

However, we are on the lookout for ideas and having played werewolf before (which was loads of fun) I'm sure we can find a space for some Live Action Freeform.
As volunteers are always wellcome gwaunquest,
if you are interested in running this then please contact me or Ian.

Any one else out there with any ideas, let us know and if theres any space we will put it on.
Dosn't matter how wierd sick or disturbing your idea is you never know.....You might end up being tied to a cross and licked by Robert (Damn Fine Convention) Having your private bits zapped (Zombiecon) or drinking mind bending cocktails (They came and shaved us).

Buy me a pint and I might just tell you about the programme items that got rejected. I'll give you a clue.....one of the working titles for the con was "TortureCon" Barf!

Re: DaCon

My favourite ideas include.. inter hotel golf at the Starfleet Ball, every corridor of the hotel had people playing golf with childrens sets, much shouting as anyone opened their doors!
I loved having dry ice in the drinks at the Quarks Bar.
I really like the idea of a good late night movie and as I have just discovered Cthulhu in Mythoscope maybe that should be screened!!
Can we have pyrotecnic talks, they have a great following, even if they are usually moved to the kids sandpits!

Werewolf is always good for a giggle. I do happen to know of a cultist variation, same principle, but it's cultists sacrificing villagers instead...

Re: DaCon

OK YOU GUYS & GALS........

I know this has been sent out in the newsletter, but we are so excited at Goldensprout Central that why not post it here as well......

Update - what's on at Dacon?
Dacon is now rapidly approaching, 24th-26th September 2010, and a weekend of great entertainment is nearing its final planning stages.

Take a look at some of the stuff that's going to be happening:

There will be a full itinerary of parties, panels, games, guest talks and general mayhem running over the whole weekend with TWO programs running side by side giving you the option on what you want to be a part of.

The precise itinerary is being nailed down but here are just some of the things you can expect:

Parties

Two nights of great parties with entertainment have been arranged…..

On the Friday Night we will have The Miskatonic University Ball (Tuxedos and Tentacles)

Dance and drink the evening away in suitable fancy dress (optional) with a disco in attendance, a late bar and a Bar-B-Q (the BBQ is included in your ticket price)

Saturday night and a change of theme with The Steam Punk Spectacular Again an evening of festivities and fancy dress with a disco and late bar

AND

Our special live band The Men That Will Not Be Blamed For Nothing

Panels / Talks / Events

Here are just some of the panels and talks you can expect, you can expect some surprise guests to be involved in some of these and (if you are the type) audience participation will be encouraged. Just the titles of some here, don’t want to spoil too many surprises….

Who was H.P. Lovecraft and how has his writing influenced on modern horror?

Vent your spleen – hated characters in sci-fi, fantasy and horror

Babbage and Tesla

Science of steampunk – how to build a deathray

Words from Herr Doktor

The mysterious explorations of Jasper Morello

Lovecraft in film

Taking tea with the Cardinal

Dr. Hills Cabinet of Curiosities – the live stage version!

Wonders of nature (late night with adult content – you have been warned)

Dangerous drinks (late night with adult content – you have been warned)

Games

Get involved if you want to in some entertaining and slightly weird games such as:

Miskatonic University Challenge

Invasion of Mars

The Reanimation Game

The ‘alternative’ casino

Lufttag

Guests

As you will be aware we have our two honoured guests attending for the weekend:

Dave Carson and Robert Rankin

Who will be playing a full and active part in most events / panels as well as doing some special talks and signing sessions…..

Dacon is the official GoldenSprout launch party for Robert’s latest book - The Japanese Devil Fish Girl and other Unnatural Attractions - which will be available to buy for signing alongside other limited edition prints of artwork from the book and more….

Dave will also be signing special limited edition prints of some of the artwork he has created specially for Dacon as well as other collectables.

There are also a number of other surprise guest speakers and visitors expected to attend …….

Just a taste of some of the weird and wonderful things we have lined up for what will be 48 hours of great entertainment.

Tickets are still available via the Golden Sprout website, you can reserve your place with the £20 supporting member ticket (balance due by 31st August) or pay the full ticket, £40, straight away J

Don’t forget that the ticket price WILL rise to £50 per person from the 1st August with the support ticket option being withdrawn on that date.

The hotel is ready and able to take your bookings, let them know it’s for the Dacon convention and the dates, oh; and don’t forget to book your meal deal ticket at the same time…..

£70 per night for a twin / double room with breakfast

£30 per person for the meal deal (that’s Saturday lunch, dinner and Sunday lunch), make sure you book this with your room…..

Make sure you have a room mate and share the cost, that brings it to a recession busting £140 per person for your convention ticket, room for two nights and all meals from Friday night to Sunday lunch inclusive!
