And I bet if you asked to borrow a book he would know exactly where to find it!!

These pics are a tad old, and could do with updating, some books have been added since they were taken. Aint that always just the way of things? One day I am going to get a purpose built books shelving unit put in behind my TV which would free up a fair ammount of space for.... well more books as it happens.
Got serious library envoy of Neil Gaiman though. That is my idea of absolute heaven.
I recognise quite a few of those spines Mr Dragon, nice to see pleanty of Iain M Banks in there.
Have you read his books without the "M"?
Do you have your books in any particular order?
Ohh & I have that exact same little "red dragon" you have, except the claw with the ball in is smashed on mine
I dont exactly do my books in order as such, I just tend to look for a space where it will fit or rearrange them to fit. But I do try to keep my authors together whenever possible. So my Rankins have their shelf, my Stephen Kings have theirs etc.
As for the non M books of mr Banks, I only own one. The Wasp Factory. I have read a couple more of them but I just couldnt get into them that much. I really prefer his Sf works, which are bloody stunning in my humble opinion.
There is one book there that doesnt really show up that well in my collection. Its the pride and joy of my bookcase. A 1976 deluxe edition of The Lord Of The Rings. If you look close you can just see it over the copy of Excession by Iain M Banks. Its is a fabulous book. All three books in one edition. plus appendices and fold out maps and it is thinner than my single copy of Fellowship. Indian paper. Quite beautiful and so thin you can read the print on the other side of the page. Its in a leather bound box too. Lovely
I see it, but your right it doesn't show up in the pic, I'd take it to be a VHS tape or somesuch
As for Iain Banks without the "M" have you tried The Bridge? My fave of his non SF books...
The main repository of all things fiction. Note how extreme space pressure has taken it's toll... Contains Rankin, Holt, Pratchett, Watterson and assorted others. Beware the fierce guardian.

The pile on the bedside table. Mainly contains hardbacks too large for the first set!

The main repository of (mostly) factual material.

The back room overspill and jigsaw repository.

Argh, a frog basket
Nice pics, I couldn't be doing with those blank book bottom ends, more shelf space needed I reckon
I recognice a few of the spines on top of your overloaded shelf though...
Thanks for sharing, I love looking at others shelves. The Red Dwarf stuff is great & I'm very jealous of the Rankin HB collection, but.... are they all hidden behind the Holt & Fford et all?
