Well I've just finished listening to the Brightonomicon radio play which I got for my birthday. Lucky me!
I must say it's absolutely splendid. I do like my radio plays and talking books and this one's very good. Rather reminiscent of the old Hitchhikers radio play, it's fast moving, complex, well put together and many layered. I loved the fairground style waltz theme that kept turning up in many guises. Giving Rizla two voices, his own and the narrator's also added another dimension and wow, what a cast!
Total thumbs up.
I'm just off to lay about a cabbie clone with my stout stick now...
You should give The Antipope radio play (or strictly speaking, audio play, since it was never broadcast on radio) a try. Not quite as polished or professionally produced as The Brightonomicon, but very very well voiced and hugely entertaining.
Oh good, I didn't know there was an audio play of it. Thanks for that.
Be sure to keep an eye out for the Retromancer one when that gets done too.
Ooh, I forgot to mention, I also had my 'Oh THAT'S where the Order of the Golden Sprout comes from' moment.

Really glad you enjoyed it...it took quite some time and effort to get it made, and nearly killed me in the process, but I am very proud of the end result.
Elliott and I are just finishing off the scripts for RETROMANCER now...we aim to release it in July 2010...and yes, David Warner is back as Hugo Rune!!

Woo Hoo! David Warner is a superb Rune, he has the voice of a giant.
I shall look forward to Retromancer
