I know the one & only ever to be signed Retromancer Proof is about to go for around the £300 mark (way over my available budget), but I just picked one up off ebay for £18.01 (no postage charge).
Don't burn me, I'll be buying the Hard Back when it comes out too...

Ah that was you! I guess we have been bidding against each other for the last few weeks or so, I got my copy for £25.00
and happy to pay the price (P.S. It’s a cracker of a read don't tell anyone else
) I too will be purchasing a 1st edition hard back in December 2009
P.S. Robert please consider placing proofs on The Golden sprout if you can...I don't like paying someone who got it for free and just lobs it on eBay.

Yeah getting them off here would be better than a supposed reviewer who probably didn't even bother to look at it.

I would think the release of chapters in the golden sprout magazine could stem the purchase of eBay proofs for some, but the collector (or avid fan, like me and you) would still pay for one, I guess the balancing act would be in-between those who would pay to read the book as against those who would pay to read the proof and collect the published book...fine line
I'll certainly be reading the proof, then when I buy the hb it'll prob sit on the shelf unread untill such time as a re-read comes along.
As for the Chapters in the mag, I've not been reading them. I wanna do the whole thing together - I'd only forget what I'd already read after a few months anyway...
Why are we humans so aquisitive?
I own all of Robert's books, but the nice people at the library keep them safe for me.
That's something I've been wondering, do libraries pay royalties to authors? Having recently had to have a PPL licence which required me to tell them every time I played a piece of music, do libraries make a contribution every time a book is borrowed?
I believe some money does go to an author when a book is borrowed. I don't think it's very much & I'm not sure exactly where that money somes from (the library in question or some central pot?)
PPL?
PPL?
Public Performance Licence.

Not directly, but authors do receive payment for books borrowed from public libraries from the Department of Culture, Media and Sport, more details here http://www.plrinternational.com/established/plradministrators/uk.htm
